RIP - Joe Soldate (March 2014)

Joe Soldate was the inventor of Soldate 30 & Soldate 60 clay bodies which are some of the stoneware bodies Humble Ceramics uses on a monthly basis.  Soldate 60 was also the first clay we learned on in our very first pottery class. We used to see him around the studio - always in a good mood - teasing us and a bit naughty at times (in a good way), and always generous with wise advice. He and Judith Grimes (another lovely talented potteress/artist we lost last year) were often seen together chatting away. He will be missed.

HC in Campari & Sofa Blog

It is always intriguing and fascinating to hear someone's process and why they are drawn to an object, a texture, a shape or a color palette. A Humble Ceramics 'stillness bowl' prototype was recently spotted in the lovely bog Campari & Sofa. You can read the whole excerpt there. (Just a tiny correction ... the maker is from Belgium ...)

Farmshop's New Website

Farmshop has a new and improved website and featured the loveliest unexpected little paragraph on Humble Ceramics which has been selling in their artisan market for the past 2 years. Humble Ceramics wouldn't be what it is today (and this is the just the beginning) without the incredible staff support and - of course - their amazing customers of good taste! Thank you Emiliano, Kurt, Ben, Josh, Katie, Jessica, et all the other friendly faces whose name I forget ...).

A special shout-out to Executive Chef Joshua Drew who has been my biggest patron/supporter and gave me the confidence to jump and get my own space and own kiln.
